Pennache was inspired by a passion for eating healthy, balanced, nutritious and delicious food. We believe that a hectic lifestyle does not mean that eating habits need to be compromised. In a society that has become accustomed to convenience, a Personal Chef is an affordable luxury that solves the dilemma of what to eat for dinner.

We believe that families can benefit from gathering together to share a healthy meal at the end of the day. Growing up in a family with a mum as a school chef meant that home-cooked meals were a part of my upbringing. In fact, eating out in restaurants were such rare events that they are actually memorable. My first memories of cooking are as a 5-year old in school where we sometimes baked cookies in the afternoon, helping mum to stir the Christmas cake and watching her prepare the Sunday roast dinner. I love food and I’ve always enjoyed creating meals that are appreciated by others.

With a successful career in the IT industry as a Corporate Educator, I became a casualty of corporate downsizing. While trying to determine my next move, I stumbled upon the concept of a personal chef. I realized that many families do not have the same luxury that I had enjoyed growing up and that dining out and ordering take-out had become the norm for so many households. The idea of being able to provide others with a much needed service at the same time as doing something I loved to do seemed like the perfect opportunity to pursue.

Pennache was launched in Calgary, Alberta in October, 2003. It gives me great satisfaction to know that I have given many clients the opportunity to enjoy their free time and still be able to sit down to a wholesome meal at the end of the day.
